Introduction

Welcome to CIP RC/PT Girder, a fully integrated bridge superstructure analysis and design software for cast-in-place (CIP) post-tensioned or reinforced concrete box/I girder, T-Beam and slab bridges built on falsework. You are joining a select group of professional engineers who use CIP RC/PT Girder to perform efficient and accurate designs everyday. Even if you are new to computer-aided design software, you will find CIP RC/PT Girder easy to use. If you are an expert, you will appreciate the fully integrated features that make CIP RC/PT Girder a very powerful design tool.

CIP RC/PT Girder is a fully integrated software program used for analyzing and designing cast-in-place concrete post-tensioned and/or reinforced box/I girder, T-beam, and slab bridges built on falsework. CIP RC/PT Girder is installed under the Superstructure Tab as part of the LEAP Bridge installation. This program features superstructure modeling capabilities and automated design features that make it suitable for the production design of box girder bridges utilizing longitudinal post-tensioning using either the lump sum method or the IRC provisions for concrete creep, shrinkage, and steel relaxation effects.

This product is specific to post-tensioned and/or reinforced concrete box/I girder, T-beam, and slab bridges, and may have a monolithic connection at the bent. Span hinges and a variety of column shapes and fixity conditions can also be accommodated.

For I-Girder Bridges, CIP RC/PT Girder offers “Simple-Simple” under Span Type, which means that the I-girders are simply-supported throughout various construction stages. Details of the various stages and their default duration are explained below. Stage Durations can be defined under the Model Tab.
SettingDescription
Initial Stage Girders only. Girders are simply-supported on two bearing lines at the piers. Load types allowed: self weight and construction load. Default duration since casting of girders: 7 days.
Deck Stage I-girders plus deck. Girders are simply supported on two bearing lines at the piers. Additional PT may be added. Load types allowed: weight of wet concrete in deck and construction load. Default duration since casting of girders: 21 days.
Intermediate Stage Deck will be assumed to be hardened. Girders are always simply supported on two bearing lines at the piers. Additional PT may be added. Load types: construction load, super-imposed dead load. Default duration since casting of girders: 49 days.
Final Stage No changes to the support conditions will be allowed. Additional PT cannot be added. Load types allowed: live Load, pedestrian load, and temperature load. Default duration since casting of girders: 20,833 days.
